The football programme is a part of the fabric of the matchday experience - a tradition that goes way back to the sport of football's roots in the 19th century.

From one sheet programmes depicting the assumed team-lines and matchday officials the programme has evolved to become in every term of the word - a magazine.

Prior to every home game we will use this section to tell you a wee bit about the upcoming programme - and as each game progresses we'll add the programme cover to our gallery (see below).

The next programme on the assembly line is for the Clydesdale Bank Premier League fixture against Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Saturday, August 18th.

In his notes, Gus MacPherson looks back at the two defeats that Saints have fallen to in the outset of the new season and looks at the ups and downs of trying to bring new players to the Club.

In David Grier's "A View from the Northbank" column he looks back at the opening day defeat against Motherwell and the future of the Supporters' Trust - SMiSA.

"The Wright Angle" by Brian Wright swings the discussion back towards a contemporary topic for Saints fans; agents and how they look to move their players on.

The latest ex Saint of the Club's look back at their players from the "Foreign Legion" is goalkeeper Ludovic Roy.

Jim Hamilton's "It happened This Day" column takes us back to 1957, 1967, 1977, 1987 and 1997 to see whether Saints were at a high or low, or somewhere in-between.

The "SPL Round-Up" by Stuart Gillespie brings us up to speed with what happened to all SPL sides in weeks one and two of the new season.
